Ryanair flight FR 9803 en route to London
Having already packed, we left the hotel right after breakfast (the usual potato cakes for me). Took a taxi (the meter went up by 0.05 euros every 5 seconds!) to the bus terminal, which thankfully wasn't very far away, where we found out that the next bus for Girona Airport would leave in 50 minutes.
The bus ride was extraordinarily long - more than 1.5 hours - because Girona is a smaller airport (not the main one we arrived at) where the budget carriers operate.
My first flight on a budget airline wasn't going too well even before we left - firstly, our baggage was overweight (don't look at me!) and we had to repack, then pay the oevrweight charge.
After this was a very loooooooooooooooong wait at the boarding gate. At 10 min to the scheduled take off I don't think the queue had moved at all.
Being a budget flight, it was free seating and we got seats at the back, where there was also an exit. The plane left 35 min behind schedule.
I had a tomato and cheese pizza, flipped through the in-flight magazine and watched the scenery change from sprawling fields to glittering water to brown mountains/hills...and finally to those brown-green-beige fields again.
And now the plane is finally flying lower as we near London's Stansted airport...
